Abstract / Description
Summary Libraries are important institutions for the preservation of cultural heritage and scientific achievements, as well as for the development of education and research. In addition to their traditional role as custodians of books and knowledge, they now function as centers of information, learning, and cultural life. The development of information technologies has brought changes to the organization of library services, enabling faster access to information and more efficient management of resources and available space. Digital services have become an important part of modern library operations, with the aim of improving the quality of services and enhancing the organization of work. The National Library of Serbia, as the oldest and most important library in the Republic of Serbia, has followed contemporary trends in librarianship and the digitalization of services throughout its development. The introduction of electronic catalogs, digital collections, and information systems has improved access to library materials and enhanced the quality of services provided to users. In libraries with a large number of users, space management and the organization of user seating present significant challenges, particularly during periods of peak occupancy. In such situations, users often face difficulties in finding an available seat for studying or working. In this context, the development of a seat reservation application represents one possible approach to improving the organization of library operations and ensuring more efficient use of available space. The aim of this paper is to present the concept of a seat reservation application intended for users of the National Library of Serbia, as well as to outline its main functions, advantages, and potential applications within a modern library system.
