Abstract / Description

Aim. To assess the impact of estimation methods on myocardial infarction (MI) mortality rates and discuss the interpretation of regional variability. Material and methods. Based on Rosstat data for 2023 on the average annual population and MI-related mortality in one-year age groups in 82 regions with a computer program (state registration number 216661114), non-standardized (non-SMR) and standardized mortality rates (SMR) were determined using the European Standard Population from 1976 (EU-1976) and 2013 (EU-2013). Results. The regional average SMR value (EU-1976) from MI was lower (27,6±14,1 per 100 thousand population) than the non-SMR (35,9±17,6) and SMR (EU-2013) 44,5±21,9 (pairwise differences are significant p
