One row per Google AI Overview citation for 150 US B2B software buyer queries across 10 categories (CRM, project management, HR and payroll, accounting, cybersecurity, marketing automation, BI and analytics, customer support, developer tools and DevOps, sales engagement) and 6 query patterns (best, best for small business, industry or company size, X vs Y, top tools, alternatives). Method: Ahrefs API v3 serp-overview, country US, filtered to ai_overview and ai_overview_sitelink rows. Snapshot dates 28 August to 10 October 2026, collected 12 October 2026. Domain Rating from the Ahrefs public Domain Rating endpoint; source types classified by hand per domain. Organic top 10 overlap pulled for a 40 query sample. Headline numbers: 132 of 150 queries measured; an AI Overview appeared on 122 (92.4%); 742 citations; software vendors' own sites 44.1%; YouTube, Reddit and forums 30.9%; 28.7% of cited URLs also ranked in the organic top 10 (40 query sample).
