Abstract / Description

This research examines the role of economic education in developing financial skills and empowering youth in light of contemporary economic transformations, through a theoretical and applied framework that links financial literacy, human capital, and financial inclusion. The study aims to analyze the concept of economic education in the context of current changes, measure its impact on young people’s financial skills, and highlight its contribution to their economic empowerment. It adopts a descriptive–analytical and quasi-experimental approach by reviewing the literature on financial deepening, liquidity, financial technology, and youth economic empowerment programs, in addition to drawing on international experiences and reports issued by organizations such as the OECD and UNDP. The findings indicate that raising the level of financial awareness helps improve young people’s ability to manage income, saving, and investment, reduce poverty and unemployment, and enhance productive integration into the labor market. The study also shows that integrating financial education into school and university curricula, as well as into labor market and entrepreneurship programs, improves the efficiency of financial decision-making and reduces the risks associated with irresponsible indebtedness, especially amid the rapid spread of financial technology. It concludes that investing in economic education is a key lever for sustainable development and requires institutional coordination among educational, financial, and governmental bodies and civil society to adopt a comprehensive national strategy for financial education and youth empowerment.
