Abstract / Description
This study utilizes network and bibliometric analysis to obtain renowned research statistics that review the phenomenon of disruption in the supply chain management field, considering 11,762 publications from the last quarter century. Bibliometric tools are applied to analyze a wide range of articles to help create an intellectual ground for this field, where citation patterns, keywords, and key publications are highlighted. Furthermore, the network analysis delivers an overview of the development of the study’s theme by discovering the mapping relationships and emerging trends involving different research clusters. Systematic visualization and review of the literature are conducted to help grasp the knowledge of where the supply chain disruption is heading, how it has evolved over the years, and the crucial development of its application to resist these disruptions in the upcoming years. The results indicate that countries like the USA, China, and India are seen to frequently address issues caused by disruptions, along with the most resilient, sustainable, and adaptable approaches to mitigate them. This study further discusses the seven topmost disruptions over the last decade, that the supply chains have been exposed to and concludes with future advancements that are seen to be gradually adopted by industries. This provides a unique approach towards resilience, visibility, and flexibility in supply chain management to bring in a sustainable, agile, and responsive method to alleviate disruptions.
